As part of the PE and sport premium conditions of grant, schools are expected to outline the impact that PE and sport premium funding has had on pupils’ PE attainment, physical activity and sport participation. To allow the department to fully understand the impact, schools should aim to outline any relevant data where possible. In the next section we will ask you to describe the impact of your school's use of the PE and sport premium grant.

Which of the 5 key areas for improvement has your use of the PE and sport premium grant spending contributed to?

o   Increasing all staff's confidence knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport

o   Increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport

o   Raising the profile of PE and sport across the school to support whole school improvement

o   An increase in staff training and continuing professional development (CPD)

o   An increase in staff participation in extra-curricular activities and school sports competitions

o   An improvement in swimming attainment

o   An improvement in water safety awareness

o   Other

How has your school's spending improved PE attainment?

· The introduction of a well-structured and progressive PE scheme of work has enabled pupils to build on prior learning year-on-year, resulting in improved skill development and confidence across a range of physical activities.

· Targeted CPD for staff has led to higher-quality PE lessons, with a greater focus on skill progression, assessment, and inclusion. This has supported pupils in accessing PE at an appropriate level and improving their individual attainment.

· Enhanced resources aligned to curriculum needs have enabled more effective teaching and practice of key skills, particularly in games and athletics.

How has your school's spending

increased school sport participation?

· Funding has supported the creation and continuation of a calendar of inter-school competitions and festivals, which has increased opportunities for pupils to represent the school in a range of sports.

· A pupil participation tracker is now embedded, allowing staff to monitor involvement and actively target those who have not yet taken part in competitive or non-competitive sport. This year 48% of children have participated in events and 62% of disadvantaged pupils have participated in events.

· Transport costs to events have been subsidised, removing barriers for families and ensuring more children can access school sport.

How has your school's spending increased pupil participation in

extra-curricular activities?

· A wider variety of after-school sports clubs have been introduced through external coaches and staff training, catering to different interests and abilities (e.g. gymnastics, dance, football, archery).

· Clubs have been strategically planned and advertised to appeal to all pupils, including those less likely to participate in traditional sports, with a clear emphasis on inclusivity.

· Pupil voice has been used to help shape the extra-curricular offer, resulting in improved engagement and ownership from children.

· Some clubs have been offered free of charge or heavily subsidised to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation for any family.

· 40% of children have attended a before or after school sport club.

Section 6 of 9 sustainability

Achieving sustainable outcomes is key to any spending of the PE and sport premium grant. The conditions of grant and guidance describe how the grant must be used. This includes:

·        build capacity and capability within the school and ensure that improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

Question

Answer

How is your school going to ensure that the improvements made through its spending of the PE and sport premium are sustainable?

·   Staff confidence and competence in delivering high-quality PE lessons—particularly in games—has significantly increased. This development supports long-term sustainability by enhancing staff expertise and creating more inclusive and engaging lessons for all pupils.

·   The PE subject leader has carried out lesson observations and provided personalised feedback to individual teachers, ensuring continuous professional development and the embedding of effective teaching strategies.

·   A comprehensive scheme of work for games has been fully embedded across the school, establishing a clear progression of skills from Reception to Year 6.

·   A calendar of inter-school competitions and festivals has been established and will be continued annually, promoting competitive sport and community engagement.

·   A participation tracking system has been created and will be updated year on year. This ensures that all pupils are given equitable opportunities to take part in school sports events, with a particular focus on inclusion and increasing participation among less-active children.

·   A daily sensory circuit and access to a sensory corridor have been embedded into the timetable to support children with regulation and sensory needs. These initiatives contribute to the school’s broader commitment to physical and emotional well-being.

·   PE equipment and resources have been audited, upgraded, and aligned with curriculum needs. These are now routinely maintained to ensure they support the delivery of quality PE lessons over time.

·   Annual review of PE provision and impact using pupil voice, teacher feedback, and participation data to inform next steps. This will also lead to continued investment in staff training to maintain and build on current skills, including new staff induction in PE expectations and pedagogy.

Section 7 of 9 swimming

As part of the National Curriculum schools must provide swimming and water safety lessons either in key stage 1 or key stage 2. National curriculum requirements are pupils should be taught to:

·        swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres

·        use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke)

·        perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

Within this form, we ask that schools provide data on the percentage of pupils within its year 6 cohort in the current academic year who met the national curriculum swimming and water safety requirements. Schools should provide attainment data for year 6 pupils from their most recent swimming lessons. This may be data from previous years, depending on the swimming and water safety programme at the school. Schools must keep attainment data from swimming and water safety lessons in years 3 to 5 to be able to report this accurately in year 6.
