At St Swithun’s Sunbeams Pre-School we embrace individuality, equality and diversity; we value every child and their family; promoting a culture of respect, confidence and positive self-esteem.

We observe and lead by children’s interests extending their play and learning within their environment whilst offering support and emotional wellbeing to all children and families within our setting.  We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum; providing fun, learning activities and experiences, through play-based learning.

We support personal, social and emotional skills by building relationships and encouraging a sense of belonging. Children respect one another by sharing, following routines, understanding boundaries. Encouraging critical thinking and problem solving independently.

We offer early literacy and maths skills through key group times and discovery times, providing opportunities to observe the world we live in by exploring our school environment. We utilise our onsite facilities to promote and support school readiness providing smooth transitions into the main school.

Children enjoy a variety of areas in our pre-school setting: our role play area (which changes to reflect our topic), small world play, creative area, book corner, interactive white board and ipads, mud kitchen, music area, snack table, water station, giant sand pit, water wall, playtrail, outside construction, scooters, trikes and bikes.  Our children also benefit from the main school facilities: music room, library, Apollo suite (cookery, clay work and art), hall (gymnastics, dance, team games and drama) YrR outside learning environment and vegetable and nature garden.
